You Should Have a Blue Christmas Tree |
![]() For you, the holidays represent a time of calm, understanding, and peace. You avoid family fights, and you don't get too stressed out - even when things are crazy! You like to make Christmas about making everyone's life a little bit better. You don't get caught up in greed or commercialism. You're too sincere for that. Your blue tree would look great with: Lots of silver tinsel You should spend Christmas Eve watching: It's a Wonderful Life What you should bake for Santa: Chocolate chip cookies |

Something cool that Xerox is doing.
If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.
How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them.

New York City Yogis and Yoginis:
National Yoga Month is here!
For over a year, we have been working on the awareness campaign and the 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour. In honor of our efforts, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion deemed September National Yoga Month and has listed it as an official observance at www.healthfinder.gov. We finally have a month to celebrate the practice we all love and hold dear to our hearts! What can you do to ensure everyone knows about Yoga Month and its mission to take yoga and preventative health care to the masses?
1) Volunteer for the upcoming NYC Yoga Month Health Festival at the Metropolitan on September 7. This is your day to celebrate and fellowship with those who embrace the healing and transformative benefits of yoga. The festival will feature yoga masters, respected health practitioners, soul-stirring musicians and a kids zone to enrich the lives of youth. We will need volunteers to cover various shifts throughout the day; however, you will have time to visit vendor booths, hear lectures, and participate in workshops of your choosing.
We need volunteers out NOW spreading the word! Currently, we only have 2 or 3 volunteers covering the city with flyers and postcards. We need more of you! Please help us get the word out by flyering the city and alerting media to the Yoga Month NYC festival. Help us bring people to an event that will enhance their overall quality of life while paying homage to an observance destined to change the way the world views yoga and its health benefits.
2) Contact youth organizations in the area and tell them about Yoga Month and the festival at the Metropolitan. Free passes will be available for all youth.
3) Blog, send out email blasts to your friends, and utilize any other method you have available to pack the house at the Metropolitan.
4) If you are an instructor, get your students on board to attend the festival. Group discount passes are available for teams of 10 or more.
We are in the eleventh hour and we need your help. Please email Karen to let her know if you can do anything, no matter how large or small, to help make the first annual National Yoga Month Festival a success in your city. We look forward to your response and continued support.
Sincerely,
The Yoga Month Team

busy
I know I haven't been on in a while, but as I said earlier I've been really busy. BUT...I just have to share a short story about my wheel falling off my car!
On Saturday evening, I started to hear a *thud thud thud thud* noise in my car. I made it home, but was concerned about going back and forth too much (and I knew I wasn't going to be able to get it to a mechanic right away). So the quick fix, I spent the night at Abby's house on Sunday night as we worked the three-day weekend. Then on Monday, after going out for sushi with the LaBella sisters, Michelle rode with me and described the sound as a helicopter landing in my car, I attempted to drive home. I *almost* go on the highway, but decided to take 17 South so I could get gas. The thud sound got louder, then I heard a really loud one, and the car was sluggish. So I called Michelle, and she said she'd come to get me. And I was about to call AAA, when a tow truck pulled over. He asked if I had a flat, and I said no. He said he had a flat tire down the road, and then I didn't have to call AAA, he was, and he could come back to me. So, Michelle came, then the tow truck came back, and he said that I could get towed to their service center and I would get an estimate before they did any work. So I let him take the car...now I was sitting in Michelle's car waiting for the guy to put my car on the flatbed, when he took a really long time. After a few minutes, I got out the car, and he said, take a look at this.
MY WHEEL FELL OFF MY CAR!!!
http://ginacallender.multiply.com/photos/a lbum/86/My_tire_fell_off
So...I slept over Michelle's and in the more I got a call from the shop and they said that it was going to cost $627! So I decided to call GEICO to get an estimate/advice from them. They suggested I get it towed to one of their service centers and I would only have to pay my $500 deductible. They would cover everything else, and in this case, the $627 didn't include body work.
So....I am waiting to hear how much this estimate is...including body work and when it will all be done.
THANK GOD I wasn't in the car when the wheel fell off!

Hmm...a recap of last week...then the weekend...not to mention that I still have to upload all the pictures that I took at Keith and Kellie's wedding in Buffalo 4th of July weekend!
I spent half the week out of the office last week since I am a notetaker for the management audit interviews we are going through right now. So...it was interesting because I learned a lot, but it was hectic and tiring. In between that, I had 2 site visits for the intern program:
1) Wednesday - Brooklyn Arts Council...then a visit to the Smack Mellon Gallery where I took this picture:
We got to see some really cool pieces and had some commentary by the curator!
2) Friday - Bronx Museum of Art...we had a cool visit there followed by First Fridays...where I heard this awesome band play:
That was a really busy weekend and I didn't even get to rest over the weekend, because I was super busy then too!
Saturday - I went into the city, went to the volunteer meeting for the YogaMonth 9.2008 event, then I went to 5 out of 6 of my assigned yoga studios...went to a cool yoga class, then went to a benefit concert...Rebuilding the Bridge: Sichuan Earthquake Charity event...where starts like Nas, Miss Info (Minya Ph) of Hot 97, Andrew Choi, Beau Sia, J-Lim, Plant B-Boy, Ryan Leslie, DJ Cipha Sounds (just to name a few) were there....AWESOME!!!! You can go to my My Space or Facebook page to check out the 4 videos I took there!
Sunday - I spent at Jackie's house working on a scroll I have due at Pennsic! Got the outline 2/3 done and NOW I'm thinking about changing the design...WHY ME???
So far this week...yoga yesterday...
Doctor's appointment in 1 hour...then? a beer...LOL!
Coming soon...pics from Keith and Kellie's wedding...I promise!

The Challenge:
- Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.
- See if anybody else responds with "I've done that." If they have, you need to add another!(2.b., 2.c., etc...)
- Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.
My three things:
1) Been to an actual asphalt lake in Trinidad *I have pictures to prove it =P*(asphalt is actually a natural raw material mined in only 3 places in the world...the only source previously, now it is also by-product of crude oil mining process mainly used in industrial applications).
2) Worked at the Metropolitian Museum of Art (MET) in NYC
3) Snowboarded on three out of four different peaks in one 8 hour day (Washington State @ The Summit at Mount Snowqualmie) *Note: this a little bit of a cheat b/c they are all part of the same mountain range, but you had to take a shuttle bus to get from base to base).

You know fashion inside out but you're far from being its slave. To you fashion is what you decide to wear. You've got great, if unconventional, taste and plenty of courage to put your ideas into practice, which inspires admiration; but few have guts to copycat you. I suppose it doesn't worry you because to you originality counts. You are self-confident, perhaps even arrogant, and consider a day wasted when no one gives you an interested or shocked look. Great job.

A favor to ask, it only takes a minute....
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and! click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle).
This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors /advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

So I am just now recovering...enough such that I can talk about it =P On Monday, I had the privilage to attend the 7th Annual Bette Midler Spring Picnic! What a fun party! It was basically a fundraising event for the NYRP and their commitment to plant trees in NYC. I actually saw some of the people that I worked with while planting trees back in April.
I saw Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, Candice Bergen, Katie Couric, and a few others...it was very cool!
Just wanted to share...not your normal run-of-the-mill events!
I even bought 2 more trees =)
